In the South you can tell a lot about a man from his belt buckle. This one, worn by our owner, John Summerford, tells the story of Summerford Truck Line. It all began in 1928 when our founder Joe Summerford traded a prized bird dog for his first truck, and the rest shall we say, is history.

Summerford Truck Line grew alongside the agriculture of the south, especially the peanut. If a peanut broke ground in Alabama, Georgia or Florida; Joe wanted it behind one of those red trucks. Joe's son John took over the business in 1978 and grew it to one of the largest trucking companies in the Southeast.
